Yalameh, village rug made in western Iran which have motifs of the Khamseh, Qashqai and Lori tribes. Design of latch hook diamond medallions are typical and these are surrounded by numerous small geometric and animal motifs. Rugs are woven on wool foundation and the asymmetrical knot is used.
Pile: wool yarn of good quality
Weft: wool yarn, 2 wefts between the rows of knots
Warp: wool yarn
Knot density: 90 000 - 120 000 knots per square meter.
The colours of the rug look different depending on the angle from which you look at it.
